Twenty years seems like yesterday to a person over the age of forty, yet it is nearly a lifetime for the newest members of the workforce. Since we opened our doors 20 years ago, so much has occurred that it is hard to remember life before M&A. Yet the invaluable hurdles and climatic wins are still fresh in our minds.
I’ll never forget the day I decided to leave the security of government service to pursue a dream of business ownership. It was the day that I asked myself “what is a former principal and school district administrator supposed to do next?” Re-trace the steps that I took as a young man, or strike out into a world unknown? Like Star Trek, a very popular show at the time, I headed for the brave new world.
I opened a consulting company specializing in the only thing I knew, education, and wrote a list of every friend I had that may want to hire me. Luckily, several did, some of which Mixon and Associates still represents. I’m so proud to have made it this far.
From -- starting an association with 20 members, and growing it to 500 members; to, instead of using every connection we have to pass bills, selecting the right friend in the right leadership position move each issue through -- Mixon and Associates has evolved into the vision we had many years ago.
Thank you, to each of you who has helped along the way, and to each of you who has trusted us to serve your interest.
